Our natural materials are an amazing alternative to common synthetic beads and are unlike anything ever used before in the fashion forward jewelry industry. Our original designs are a pleasure to wear, both because your purchase is good for the earth and the people who inhabit it, but also because these natural rainforest materials are wonderful to the touch.
Huayruro (why-you-roe)
Ormosia coccinea is a large tree that grows all throughout the forests of South America. Its seeds, commonly known as huayruro, are found within a pod and are naturally colored a deep red and black. Huayruro have been used by Peruvians for generations as a charm to attract good fortune and wealth and have been historically used in adornments and jewelry. The seeds are collected from the forest floor as they fall and are found in various sizes. (Note: Huayruro seeds are poisonous if eaten; never ingest them. Keep the seeds out of reach of small children.)
Review
I received huaryruro necklace for review. It’s very hard to see these beads as they collected Huayruro in the Amazon Region. These beads are rare and we can’t see them in any places except the forest of Amazon Region. Its vivid red and deep black color makes the process of converting it to a bead as easy as drilling a hole in the center. Although the small size of many huayruro—the smallest measuring a little more than an 1/8th of an inch—can make this process a challenge. Once a hole is successfully drilled into the center of a seed, it is ready to be a bead. They are eco friendly beads and rich to wear it that goes well with any dress for parties.
