Modern and mythical worlds collide in a heroic epic adventure when Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief arrives on Blu-ray Disc and DVD June 29 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. Based on the popular book series by Rick Riordan, the film follows trouble-prone Percy Jackson who finds himself having problems in high school… but that’s the least of his challenges. It’s the 21st century, but the gods of Mount Olympus have walked out of the pages of his Greek mythology texts and into his life, and they’re not happy – Zeus’ lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Learning he is the son of Poseidon, the young teen finds himself caught between angry and battling gods, and embarks on a cross-country adventure to catch the true lightning thief and unravel a mystery more powerful than the gods themselves.
Directed by Chris Columbus (first two Harry Potter films). The Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief Blu-ray includes over an hour of special features, 10 deleted scenes, a “Secrets of the Gods” featurette, an “On Set” with Brandon T. Jackson, and much more. The standard DVD includes five deleted scenes, “Bringing The Book To Life” featurette and a “Discover Your Powers” quiz. The Blu-ray Disc with Digital Copy will be available for the suggested retail price of $39.99 U.S. / $49.99 Canada and the standard DVD will be available for the suggested retail price of $29.98 U.S. / $43.48 Canada.

This movie sounds familiar and we are the huge fan of this movie. The plot begins with a mix of a pseudo Greek and Roman mythology lesson. It does the great job of introducing this lesson to you even if you have no knowledge of Greek myths. Percy himself doesn’t aware that he is a Demi God and took more advantages to avoid mythical creatures trying to kill him. He gets the lightning bold and tries to get his mother out of Hades and return the bolt to Zeus. The “land of the lotus eaters” happened in casino, Las vegas where Percy and his companions eat “lotus flowers” and have a sort of acid trip to Lady GaGa songs. They followed the map to go the adventure trip throughout the movie.

My family enjoyed the movie and some members are wanting to see the movie. My husband and youngest daughter had not read the books so they had to tolerate my oldest daughter and I yelling at the tv whenever something was different in the movie. In the books Annabeth is a blonde and we had the hardest time with her being a brunette in the movie.

Teenager Percy Jackson finds himself being chased by mythical creatures from the Greek myths. Things get even stranger when he finds out that his father is actually a Greek God. My children really enjoyed this book series and are looking forward to seeing the movie.

My son LOVES this movie! His favorite part is when the kid’s teacher turns out to be one of the “bad guys”…he thought that was hilarious.
The movie was directed by Chris Columbus. Love that name.
It’s based on an awesome book by Rick Riordan and there are five books in all.

This is a very good movie. It was an action filled mythology lesson that my entire family enjoyed.
I can tell you that during the movie in the Parthenon, the multihead creature was awesome, especially when it grew new heads! My kids made me rent this three times!
