Modern and mythical worlds collide in a heroic epic adventure when Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief arrives on Blu-ray Disc and DVD June 29 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. Based on the popular book series by Rick Riordan, the film follows trouble-prone Percy Jackson who finds himself having problems in high school… but that’s the least of his challenges. It’s the 21st century, but the gods of Mount Olympus have walked out of the pages of his Greek mythology texts and into his life, and they’re not happy – Zeus’ lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Learning he is the son of Poseidon, the young teen finds himself caught between angry and battling gods, and embarks on a cross-country adventure to catch the true lightning thief and unravel a mystery more powerful than the gods themselves.
Directed by Chris Columbus (first two Harry Potter films). The Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief Blu-ray includes over an hour of special features, 10 deleted scenes, a “Secrets of the Gods” featurette, an “On Set” with Brandon T. Jackson, and much more. The standard DVD includes five deleted scenes, “Bringing The Book To Life” featurette and a “Discover Your Powers” quiz. The Blu-ray Disc with Digital Copy will be available for the suggested retail price of $39.99 U.S. / $49.99 Canada and the standard DVD will be available for the suggested retail price of $29.98 U.S. / $43.48 Canada.

Review
This movie sounds familiar and we are the huge fan of this movie. The plot begins with a mix of a pseudo Greek and Roman mythology lesson. It does the great job of introducing this lesson to you even if you have no knowledge of Greek myths. Percy himself doesn’t aware that he is a Demi God and took more advantages to avoid mythical creatures trying to kill him. He gets the lightning bold and tries to get his mother out of Hades and return the bolt to Zeus. The “land of the lotus eaters” happened in casino, Las vegas where Percy and his companions eat “lotus flowers” and have a sort of acid trip to Lady GaGa songs. They followed the map to go the adventure trip throughout the movie.

Honestly, the only thing that I know about this movie is that my teenage son is really wanting to see it. This would make a great family movie night flick.

Mythical movies are fun and being directed by Chris Columbus it should be well made.
I saw this movie, mainly because I am going through Harry Potter withdrawal and I thought that Chris Columbus would give it the same magic he gave to the first 2 Harry Potter movies. I guess I expected too much because I thought it was your typical kids’ movie – not a lot of intelligent adults like what was so unique about Harry Potter.

It was directed by Chris Columbus who directed the first two Harry Potter movies.
This is an awesome movie based on mythology…I did not know that they went on a ‘trip’ and all of this was set to Lady Gaga music! I also did not know it was filmed in Las Vegas but I did recognize fremont street from the above pic, very cool!
