ABOUT THE BOOK
The city was in crisis.  Fear had gripped the population as a serial kidnapper preyed on the children of the city’s wealthiest families, striking quick and collecting ransoms without leaving a trace of evidence.  Despite the best efforts of law enforcement, their methods remained flawless and their crimes were perfect.  No one knew who they were or how to stop them, so the kidnappings went on, and on.  They were the lead story on the front page every morning when Cliff Elliott read the newspaper; another kidnapping, another ransom and another family torn apart.

As heartbreaking and unsettling as Cliff considered the kidnappings to be, his financial lot in life kept him from worrying too much about his own daughter being kidnapped.  His feet were planted firmly in a middle class neighborhood and his lifestyle reflected it.  No; his daughter would never be a target.  Sadly he was wrong; very wrong.   He realized it the day his daughter was kidnapped.  Her kidnapping however was different from all the others.  There was no contact made by the kidnappers.  No communication at all was attempted and no ransom was demanded.  She was just…gone.

Cliff lost more than his daughter that day.  He didn’t realize it until he came face to face with the tragic turn of events that led to her return.  At that point there was no escaping it.  Everything in his life felt wrong.  His entire being was painfully out of balance; a balance that only one thing could restore.  Cliff knew what that one thing was.  There was only one question he had to answer; was he capable of doing it?
