Putumaya Kids encourage children to learn more exposure to the cultures of the world through  music. PUTUMAYO PRESENTS INDIA is another gem and has quickly become one of my personal favorite albums which released on February 24, 2009. The Indian music takes children to tour the journey of Indian culture of music and arts.  This Putumayo Presents India CD includes small booklet to help children to learn different musical instruments and its vocabulary.I have been on a Indian music binge after falling in love with the soundtrack to SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE so it was obvious that I would gravitate to Putumayo’s collection of Indian music. Granted the cd is short and just gives the listener a brief glimpse into India’s music.

Slumdog Millionaire has opened many Americans’ ears to contemporary Bollywood music. Two tracks from Bollywood star composer AR Rahman (Slumdog’s Oscar-winning musical director), the collection also includes lounge music, folk, classical, and of course high-energy Indian indie pop. I can listen to this wonderful cd without skipping a single song.
